Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2025
I’m Sayem, and this is my website at sayeme.com. I believe in being straight up about what data I collect and why. Privacy matters, especially these days, so here’s everything you need to know.
What Information I Collect
When You Comment
If you leave a comment on any of my blog posts, I collect whatever you put in the comment form – your name, email, and website URL if you add one. I also automatically grab your IP address and what browser you’re using. This helps me catch spam comments before they clutter up the site.
Your email gets turned into something called a hash (basically a scrambled version) that might be sent to Gravatar to pull your profile picture. If you don’t know what Gravatar is, don’t worry about it – it’s just a service that shows your avatar next to comments if you have one set up.
Analytics and Tracking
Like most websites, I use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they’re coming from. This helps me understand what content is actually useful and what isn’t.
I don’t get any personally identifiable information from this – just general stats about traffic and user behavior.
Contact Forms
When you fill out my contact form or email me directly, I obviously get whatever information you choose to share. I keep these emails so I can respond to you and reference our conversation if needed.
Cookies
My site uses cookies – those little files that websites store on your computer. Here’s what they do:
- If you leave a comment, your browser can remember your name and email for next time (saves you typing it again)
- If you’re logged into the site (which is really just me and maybe a few others), cookies keep you logged in
- Analytics cookies help me understand how people use the site
Most of these cookies stick around for about a year, except login cookies which expire after a couple days for security reasons.
What I Don’t Collect
I don’t track your personal browsing habits across other sites. I don’t sell email lists. I don’t spam people. I’m not running some massive data collection operation here – this is just my personal blog and business site.
How I Use Your Information
Comments and Communication
If you comment or email me, I might respond. Crazy concept, right? I keep these communications so I can reference them later if needed.
Improving the Site
I look at analytics to see what content people actually read and find useful. This helps me write better posts and improve the site.
Legal Stuff
If there’s ever a legal issue or security problem, I might need to use this data to protect myself or other users. Hopefully that never happens.
Who Gets Access to Your Data
Mostly just me. I don’t sell or share your information with random companies.
However, some third-party services I use might process your data:
- Google Analytics (for website stats)
- My web hosting provider (because that’s where the site lives)
- Email service providers (when I respond to your messages)
- Gravatar (for profile pictures in comments)
These companies have their own privacy policies, and I try to only work with reputable ones.
Your Rights
If You Want Your Data Deleted
Just ask. Send me an email and I’ll remove whatever personal information I have about you. The only exception is if I’m legally required to keep something for business or security reasons.
If You Want to See Your Data
You can request a copy of any personal data I have about you. Again, just email me.
If You Want to Correct Something
If I have wrong information about you, let me know and I’ll fix it.
Security
I take reasonable precautions to protect your data. The site uses SSL encryption (that’s the little lock icon in your browser). I keep software updated and use strong passwords.
But let’s be honest – no system is 100% secure. I can’t guarantee that hackers will never breach my site, but I do my best to prevent it.
Changes to This Policy
I might update this privacy policy occasionally. If I make major changes, I’ll probably mention it in a blog post or email. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
International Users
I’m based in Bangladesh, but visitors come from all over. If you’re in the EU and GDPR applies to you, or if you’re in California with CCPA rights, the same rules apply – you can request your data, ask me to delete it, or correct it.
Contact Me
Questions about this privacy policy? Want to request your data or ask me to delete it?
Email me through my contact page or reach out on LinkedIn.
I usually respond within a day or two.
The Bottom Line: I collect minimal data, use it responsibly, and I’m happy to answer any questions you have about it. This isn’t some corporate privacy policy written by lawyers – it’s just me being transparent about how I run my site.
